Hard as it may be to believe that the holidays are right around the corner, it’s even harder to believe that Fall ‘09 clothes are already being supplanted at stores by Resort deliveries. (When was fall? Is it over?) Anyway, believe it. Shoppers starting their yearly snoop for presents and party frocks will find a whole new crop of goods arriving in stores this week and next. Today, for example, the first-ever Shipley & Halmos Resort collection arrives on the racks at Barneys New York. The retailer picked up the capsule collection on the basis of sketches—an unusual business practice, these days—and is selling it exclusively. A cross section of categories is represented, e.g., a twill car coat, a couple of georgette blouses, an oversize cotton shirtdress. But given the season, the Shipley & Halmos item shoppers are most likely to flock to Barneys for is the Bronte dress, a silk crepe number in a black, white, and gray floral print that has “New Year’s” written all over it.

India : FIEO appreciates RBI notification for garments industry - Apparel News India

Welcoming RBI notification just issued including garments for 2% interest subvention with effect from 1st Dec 2008, Mr A Sakthivel, President, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) said that this will provide relief to apparel sector which is facing exports contraction and tough price competition.

Mr Sakthivel said that lowering of interest rate through subvention will also give respite from recent appreciation.

FIEO took up the matter with DOC, MOF and RBI which led to issuance of this notification and FIEO chief thanked CIM, FM and Governor RBI.

India : 2% of interest subvention to benefit to knitwear exporters - TEA - Apparel News India

Reserve Bank of India has issued a notification yesterday (12.10.2009) by including Readymade Garments under the Rupee Export Credit Interest Subvention Scheme with retrospective effect from 1.12.2008. The 2% Interest Subvention Scheme is available from 1.12.2008 to 31.3.2010.

Shri.A.Sakthivel, President, TEA welcomed RBI notification for inclusion of Readymade Garments under the 2% Interest Subvention with effect from 1.12.2008.

Shri.Sakthivel said the benefit of 2% of interest subvention will provide a relief to knitwear garment exporters at a time when the knitwear sector is facing the demand compression in the global market apart from severe price competition.

Shri.A.Sakthivel also added that lowering of interest rate through interest subvention will also give relief from recent Rupee Appreciation against Dollar.

Shri. A.Sakthivel thanked the Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon’ble Finance Minister and RBI Governor and said the RBI notification has come after continuous representation made to Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Finance and RBI.
